DANDELION STEMS/SODA POP!

       I don't know what made me think of this memory from my high school days, but, here it is for what it is worth. There was a time when the Standard Oil gas station on Main Street in Laurel had this pop machine that sat out front by the front door. 

        This particular pop machine was rectangular in shape and you opened with a hinged lid. After inserting the right change, you slid the bottle along this track and then lifted the bottle out. One night yours truly and a friend just opened the cap on this particular beverage and inserted  a dandelion stem to suck out the pop. Dumb Huh? Like we didn't have a dime?
