GIDDY UP W/GPS

        This past week while visiting a friend of Ilah's while in WDM, I encountered almost a surreal experience while in the area and involving the GPS "contraption" on the smart phone. Here goes.

         Since I lived in WDM area for nearly 30 years, I have always felt that getting around the area would never be a problem. Where I went wrong is that since I have not lived there for nearly 20 years a lot of the tremendous growth has been west of I80/35. and that was exactly where we were headed last Tuesday night. I did say night and that always is a game changer!

          Have you ever tried trying to listen to a GPS devise giving you directions while IT is in  the back seat with Ilah and her friend Cathy so they could visit. It was hard to hear what it was saying and at the same time trying to compute the direction it was giving me, figuring out what lane out of four or five to get into, watching traffic around me, and then on ocassion disagreeing with the GPS thing because I thought I knew better just by instinct.

           Of course once heading back to the hotel I got disoriented and ended up going west on I80 headed west to the Waukee exist. Oh we made it out of town later and made it back to  Williamsburg OK. It was a classic lesson in technology and progress meets Dennis and days gone by and "night moves." I think I lost, but, I gave it a try! Next time will meet at high noon and in a cab!
