MICHIGAN FALL TOUR-DAY FOUR

On Monday morning, October 6th, 2014, we left the Driftwood motel in Rogers City on Lake Huron and headed over and down to the west side of Michigan and to begin our journey home. We made our way over to interstate 75 and then over to Traverse City. What a beautiful area this is and one can see why this is a big destination area. It sets in Grand Traverse Bay and not directly on Lake Michigan. The fall rates for smaller "ma and pa" motels were extremely low for the fall. We saw one sign that a rate of $50.00 per night and that was right in the heart of water view and the high ticket Inns.

We slipped over to the Lake Shore to check out the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Oh My! Those are dunes! I better get in shape to climb those next time we come. We continued down and hugged the shoreline of Lake Michigan. When getting as far as Ludington we realized that at this city is  where you can take a ferry over from Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

At this point we came to the conclusion that we would be coming back to this beautiful state. We would take the ferry across and stay in Traverse City and go from there. The ferry runs till the end of October and would allow us to take in all the glorious color that we had witnessed this journey.

We both love the ocean and this will be as close as we will come to experiencing that feel. Michigan we will return. I hope I have the patience to wait one year. It probably is beautiful in the Spring too!

One last memory lasting view of the Lake in  Benton Harbor at a lovely lake side park. Incredible!
