IMPRESSED W/ CONGRESSMAN BLUM

      Someone this past week gave me an invitation to the "Summer Picnic" with U.S. Congressman Rod Blum of the 1ST District of Iowa which includes a lot NE Iowa including Marshalltown, Iowa. It was held in Marengo, Iowa at the Iowa County Fair Grounds. (Friday August 11,2017)

        Not knowing what to expect and always wanting to "get involved" in politics in some manner(other than just donating money) I decided to attend and see what would happens at this town hall meeting. Besides, they had a pretty good spread for food including sweet corn and lots of home made cookies which by some miracle I only had two!

        It wasn't a terribly big crowd of maybe 50 to 100 people tops. Nothing like the Joni Ernest Bike Ride earlier this year in Boone. And, I didn't witness anyone that got obnoxious or out of hand with questions about health care or whatever! No doubt that Blum is a very conservative but knowledgeable Congressman after listening to his remarks. Will see where it goes from here!
