HEDGE YOUR BET ON RETIREMENT!

Every once in a while you overhear someone mention that they just retired or soon will. I have never cared for that term. It has meant the end of a job or career. This magical number of 65 is antiquated today. Many of my friends are still active in their careers well into their 70's or at least on a part time basis because they enjoy it and not so much out of necessity.

It always has reminded me of a story I read about many years ago. A doctor had retired to the Hilton Head area and played golf every day. Eventually, he became bored and thought there had to be more to life than "just" golf.

At some point, he and a group of his doctor golf playing buddies opened a free clinic for the less fortunate and took turns working it. They all were still able to play golf and do something very worthwhile!
