DOWNTOWN IOWA CITY/ NOTHING LIKE IT!

      Last night, Saturday 5/21/2016, I drove to Iowa City to catch Catfish Keith in the PED MALLat Dubuque and College Sreets. Catfish Keith was a Blues performer who kicked off live entertainment in the IC downtown for the summer. This was my first encounter and must admit that I was extremely impressed.

       This pedestrian area that was developed years ago is unmatched by anything similar in the state of Iowa that I have experienced. Even downtown Des Moines or the Valley Junction area of West Des Mooines cannot compare. Even the area for liveentertainment set up by the pond at Jordan Creek doesn't hold a candle to IC. 

       Not only was the amount of people there, it was the type of people that was refreshing to see. A feeling of a cosmopolitan area. Old people young people, and little people! Lots of variety in fashion styles that one doesn't see in small towns like Williamsburg.  One thing I will always observe is that it just makes an older person like myself feel better to be around younger people like you see in a college or university town. Then, when you put so many "hip" people from all walks like you have in this area of the PEDMALL, it is truly refreshing and worth many comebacks this upcoming summer and hopefully many summers to come!
