Overheard at the Maid-Rite in Marshalltown, at lunch time one day recently, was some-one ordering a sandwich "wet." People are heard constantly ordering one with extra pickles, extra onion, extra dry, and in then case "extra wet."
This particular day, I asked what the most unusual wet request was or something to that affect. One example, mentioned by a server, was that a lady comes in on a regular basis and orders just a bowl of loose meat and then it is filled to the rim with liquid grease from the bottom of the steamer. Another lady has both buns "dunked" into the grease and in addition has the wet meat added. The two ladies to this date are still living!
