REMEMBER THE LARK IN TIFFIN?

In the years, 1960's-90's,when I was attending Iowa Hawkeye football  games on a regular basis, one place where you went to eat and celebrate after the game was the Lark in Tiffin right on highway 6. This place personified the old steak/road house restaurants of decades ago.

The place had all kinds of areas, rooms, and levels and very dimly lit.The bar was right up front and was after a game a hub of Hawk fans and sometimes a celebrity or two to be seen. If you didn't get there in a timely manner after a game you were in for a very long wait.

The one thing that I will never forget in addition to how great the food was, had to be the uniqueness of the "lettuce salad." It was cut and carved out as a bowl with a the upper part of the head remaining to act as a "back-board."  I had never seen anything like it. The restaurant burned in 2000 and relocated in Iowa city for a time but never regained its earlier prominence.
