WHY A MEATBALL SANDWICH?

This past week, I was reading a food critique  in the Des Moines Register.  It was on the Olive Garden in West Des Moines and the writer was complaining about the "meatball sandwich."

The meatballs had fallen out of the sandwich and was very messy. I have never understood the love of meatballs especially in a sandwich. If you want an Italian sandwich just get a hoagie bun with Italian sausage ground up, green pepper, onion, and topped with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or provolone. Wrap it up in tin foil and bake it. Just like the "Gizmo" you get at the State Fair. And, not much mess.

When making home-made spaghetti, I use a little Prego along with a mixture of mushrooms, green pepper, Italian sweet sausage, onion, and maybe on occasion sweet banana peppers. A fork will stand straight up into it and there is no fooling around with meat balls! Yum!
